What will my child learn?

Your child’s day will be packed full of many planned and unplanned learning experiences! We acknowledge our children’s interests and respect their ability to self-direct their own learning so free play is encouraged and then extended by our talented educators throughout the day.

During their free play, they will naturally interact and socialise with their peers and educators which, is vital for their person and social development.

Some of the days will also be spent enjoying planned lessons which are taught by specialist teachers. Here are some planned lessons that our programme offers to all children.

How many children are there in each room? 

Our rooms are structured as follows:

We intentionally plan some overlaps with our classroom age groups to allow us to cater to the individual needs and developmental milestones of each of our children. We understand that children develop at different rates and respect their unique journeys.

Can I spend a few hours with my child on their first day or prior to their first day to make sure they are comfortable? 

Yes, of course. We encourage parents to be as involved in the induction process as possible and warmly welcome you into the classroom. We will also offer your child a number of orientation days before they begin with you present until you feel confident enough to leave them in our care.

What time does the centre open and close?

We open at 6.30am and close at 6.30pm Monday to Friday except for public holidays.

Can we do a shorter day?

You are able to drop off and collect your child at any time that suits you between 6.30am to 6.30pm. As a long daycare centre we charge the same fee regardless of pick up and drop off times.

Will I have to provide food and snacks for my child? 

In our Babies room, parents are required to provide expressed or formula milk, which is stored in the refrigerator, as needed.

All other food and snacks are included within the daily fee for all children. Working in collaboration with Munch and Move, our onsite chef provides delicious, well balanced, nutritious meals so that you can spend less time on food preparation at home and more time enjoying your little one’s company.

Additionally, our chef provides a weekly take home meal for families to enjoy as a mid-week treat. Our families can order these in advance at reception.

What do I need to pack in my child’s bag on a daily basis? 

As part of your child’s enrolment pack, we will provide you with a goodie bag that includes a drawstring bag, a hat and a t-shirt. You can then use this bag to pack the following items where applicable:

  • Nappies
  • Cot/Bedsheet
  • Change of clothes
  • Drink Bottle


How much screen time will my child have? 

Technology plays an important part in modern day life but we like to limit this too taught lessons with relevant curriculum links and always ensure that any screen time is fully supervised. Our children therefore enjoy a good balance of activities both with and without screens.

How does communication work? 

Communication is at the heart of everything we do here at Kool Kids Hive. Our educators will personally greet your family on arrival and at collection times and will send you photos and information about your child’s day each day. This is our way of ensuring that you get to enjoy as many ‘wow’ moments as possible.


We also use an educational program called ‘Kindy Hub’ to let you know how your child’s day has gone and to show evidence of their play and learning.

We take a $50 enrolment fee for each child, which includes the supply of a Kool Beanz t-shirt, hat, sheet bag and sunscreen. A bond of $150 per child is also required – this is fully refundable on the discontinuation of your child’s enrolment at Kool Beanz, providing that 2 weeks notice has been given to the Centre Director and all fees are paid in full.
